Learn the foundations of using configurable joins in Slate. We'll take you on a journey through joins—starting at the base. Attendees will learn more about the data tables in Slate and best practices for navigating one-to-many relationships through subqueries. We'll also explore the power behind subquery filters and exports for outputting and filtering data.

This course is appropriate for Slate users who have limited to moderate experience with querying using Configurable Joins and would like to learn more about best practices for pulling data in Slate.

Get ready to manage your application programs strategically. This course will demonstrate how to create a dataset of application programs to store essential data—application deadlines, program contacts, application requirements and more. We’ll explore how to connect a dataset record to your Slate application and use dataset information to share deadlines and related information with your applicants.

This course is intended for Slate users who are responsible for managing and processing applications. It is appropriate for users who have a foundational knowledge of fields, prompts, forms and conditional logic.

This course will introduce the fundamental skills needed to create and manage portals in Slate. Attendees will learn the relationship between a portal query, method, and view, and how these change with the scope of the portal. We’ll also develop ready-to-use portal components to make the creation, customization and personalization of portals fast and easy for your users across numerous use cases.

This course is appropriate for Slate users who have limited to moderate experience with Slate portals and would like to learn more about portal configuration and content elements.

Description

Deconstruct a funnel report with us! In this course we'll highlight configurable joins concepts you need to create efficient and accurate reports in Slate. We'll discuss the benefits of Configurable joins over traditional query base reporting, and demonstrate how to use features like subqueries and query libraries to your best advantage.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Slate users with a basic knowledge of Configurable Joins who frequently build queries and would like to gain more experience with reports. Attendees should be familiar with the reports tool and have moderate experience building queries in Slate, using either local bases or configurable joins.

Description

Make every campus visitor feel special. We’ll explore how to configure daily campus visits with related events to empower visitors to personalize their on-campus experience. Learn how to communicate all details of a record’s visit to the invested parties and share schedules with your visitors. Attendees will learn how to develop a visit portal that allows records to login, view and manage their upcoming visit.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Slate users who manage on-campus events and/or communications. Attendees should have familiarity with creating and editing events or forms, and have an interest in the use of portals.

Learn how to optimize your data in Slate. Datasets and entities unlock the true potential of Slate’s relational database. This course will dive into their configurations, highlight common and accessible use cases (e.g., program datasets, courses and scholarships) as well as the differences between the two data types. We’ll discuss guidelines for maintaining datasets and entities and how to leverage them to create smart automations in your database.

This course is intended for users who are responsible for managing data in Slate. Attendees should be comfortable updating records and creating fields, prompts and forms.

Description

Leverage configurable joins to level up your communications! This course will share how to pair subquery outputs with content blocks and liquid markup to dynamically share data and personalize messages to your records. We’ll explore how to use configurable joins to create robust filters and target your records in more meaningful and flexible ways.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Slate users who work with marketing and communications, send mailings using Deliver and post content to portals. Users should have a basic understanding of Deliver and Query.

Description

Automation is powerful in Slate, but don't set and forget. Your rules need a checkup! During this session, RHB will share insights gained from Slate diagnostics that may help inform automation and rule hygiene in your database. Learn how to assess rule performance and troubleshoot inefficient and inaccurate rules. We’ll also discuss the dos and don't of rule construction and demonstrate how to transition rules on legacy query bases to configurable joins.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Slate users who are responsible for the creation and management of rules. It's appropriate for users who want to learn more about rule best practices and how to assess rule performance. Attendees should have moderate experience with configurable joins.

Description

Discover advanced tactics and techniques for constructing portals in Slate. This course will expand on foundational skills and introduce the technical concepts needed for full customization of a Slate portal. Attendees will learn how to design additional views such as pop-ups, manipulate data displays using liquid markup and liquid looping and complete redirects. Use cases will be provided for technical concepts with discussions of best practices.

Target Audience

This course is appropriate for Slate users who have experience with configuring Slate portals and are looking to advance their portal design skills.

Cost

Registration is $450 per person and includes three in-person sessions led by RHB Slate experts.

Who Should Attend

All Slate users regardless of role or level of expertise are welcome and you do not need to be an RHB client to attend. There are plenty of course options tailored toward operations, admissions, marketing and recruitment staff looking to build their Slate skills.

Location

All sessions will be held at The Gwen. Located in Chicago’s premier commercial district, The Gwen is near top attractions and landmarks, including the Navy Pier (site of the 2024 Slate Innovation Summit), House of Blues Chicago, Tribune Tower and the Chicago Riverwalk.

What to Bring

Please bring a laptop computer; we recommend that you also bring a charging cord and any tools you prefer to use for taking notes. RHB will provide attendees with further instructions on how to provision and configure a Clean Slate environment prior to the event.

Food

A continental breakfast will be available prior to the first session. Refreshments and snacks will be provided during breaks.

Cancellation Policy

Registrants who cancel by May 31, 2024 will have the option of receiving a full refund of the $450 registration fee or transferring registration to another member of their institution. For cancellations after May 31, RHB will transfer registration to another member of the institution upon request.
